Sifu Dave Bright has been involved in the martial arts since his early teens, and whilst he has dabbled in a few arts over the years (including a 6 year stint with the Sussex Sword Academy) much of that time has been spent training and teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu. Led to the art by the legacy of Bruce Lee, Dave has had the good fortune to have trained in several lineages of the system under some world renowned practitioners. The skill and expertise developed over this time has seen him fulfil a long tenure as senior instructor at the headquarters of a large network of martial arts schools in the UK, and he is now running his own independent school on the south coast. His current focus is the long pole form (Luk Dim Boon Kwun) of the Tang family system (Weng Chun), which he is learning exclusively from Sifu Sunny So in Hong Kong, one of the last representatives left of the system.
Having continued to seek areas where he can develop, in the last decade Sifu Dave has earned a BSc in Sports Coaching Science and an MSc in Sports Psychology from the University of Chichester, where he made enough of an impact that he is now Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching. Following the recent development of a relationship with DojoTV he will shortly be publishing a series of short coaching master class videos outlining how anyone involved in martial arts instruction or coaching can develop their practice and strive to be better mentors, not just better martial artists.
